09:05AM CST Message from our Sponsor - Collier IT
09:10AM CST Migrating Oracle Database to Public Cloud –
Choices, Architectures, and License considerations
-- by BIJU THOMAS • Sr. Director, Global Oracle Practice
Many organizations adopt a cloud-first strategy and already have many workloads running in the public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP). Oracle database workloads are typically the last to migrate. OCI offers many database platform as a service (PaaS) choices. Should you go with OCI or stick with the enterprise cloud choice? Advantages and disadvantages of a multi-cloud strategy. Discuss the Oracle database migration and management options, high availability disaster recovery (HADR) tools & architectures. Last but not least, see the license impact across various cloud architectures.
10:00AM CST Break (10 minutes)
10:10AM CST Next Generation of Exadata Cloud Infrastructure –
More Compute, Storage, Faster Networking at the Same Price
-- by Tammy Bednar, Sr. Director of Product Management
The latest generation of Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M runs database workloads dramatically faster with extremely low 19 microsecond latency for SQL reads, up to 87% more SQL IOPS for OLTP, and 80% faster analytic scans. It offers extreme scale out capabilities that benefit both Autonomous Database and Exadata Database Service. With Exadata we combine the best compute, storage, networking, and system software available and build a scale-out engineered system specifically architected to run the Oracle Database. Join this session to learn about the next generation of Exadata Cloud Infrastructure and hear about the latest cloud features.
11:00AM CST Break (10 minutes)
11:10AM CST Oracle on Azure
Best Practices to run Oracle on Azure
-- by BIJU THOMAS, Sr. Director, Global Oracle Practice
Running Oracle database on Azure cloud is a supported architecture – both Oracle and Microsoft. Let’s discuss the best practices to run Oracle databases and related application servers on Azure VMs. Migration methods, sizing the VM, finding the type of disk and IOPS/MBPS requirements, Bastion server, load balancer, placement of data/temp/redo files, and high availability configurations.
12:00PM CST Break (10 minutes)
12:10PM CST Multicloud made Easy with the OCI-Azure Interconnect
OCI-Azure Interconnect
-- by Suzanne Holliday, Senior Principal Product Manager
The Oracle Cloud and Azure Interconnect, a high-throughput, low-latency private connection, born out of the integration partnership, was engineered to reduce migration and application development friction for Oracle and Azure joint customers. Accelerate cloud adoption by preserving existing architectures utilizing both vendor specific capabilities when migrating existing workloads or developing new solutions in the Oracle and Azure cloud. Join this session to learn about the impact of latency between the data source and application connectivity, use cases and best practices for implementing workloads spanning both clouds with the Oracle converged database, optimized for all database workloads, data types, and development paradigms as a single, unified enterprise cloud solution.
1:00PM CST Closing note by the TCOUG President, Suresh Sikharam
