09:50AM CDT Limits? What limits? A Simple, Practical Approach to REST Services using Oracle Apex by Will Du Chene
A simple and practical approach to REST services built within Oracle APEX using the built-in toolset. No coding experience, save for PL/SQL, and an understanding of Oracle fundamentals is required. This is a very gentle introduction to the subject and intended to spur exploration of the features that the toolset has to offer.
Additional sample code will be provided in Java, Perl, and from basic Linux command line tools that can be used with shell scripts.
Integration of the services with external data sources located elsewhere on the internet and middleware, "Big Data," tools will be demonstrated.
10:40AM CDT Oracle Exadata X11M - Next-Generation Intelligent Data Architecture by Michael Dumont
Oracle Exadata X11M provides the choice and flexibility to deploy Oracle database everywhere customers need—on-premises, Cloud@Customer, Oracle Cloud, and multicloud. Exadata is used by thousands of organizations, including the majority of the world’s largest financial, telecom, and retail businesses, to run their most critical and demanding Oracle Database workloads.
This presentation will highlight the significant performance improvements across AI, OLTP, and analytics workloads, all while maintaining the same price as the previous generation.
11:30AM CDT Short Break
11:40AM CDT Oracle Database: STIG and NIST Compliance Privilege by Daniel Morgan, ACE Director Alum
There was a time when the requirement to be a DBA or Senior Developer were purely technical: Can you build a RAC cluster? Can you tune a SQL statement? Do you know how to configure RMAN or run an ASH or AWR Report: That is no longer the case.
The job of a DBA or Developer are now under threat. The twin threat created by Machine Learning and AI mean that increasing parts of our core jobs are being transferred from human intelligence to silicon resulting in a decreasing number of interesting and challenging opportunities. And, at the same time, the demand for technical staff cross trained in compliance, governance and security continues to increase with unemployment rates effectively at zero percent (0%).
Daniel Morgan will be presenting a new workshop at our Winter meeting that will introduce the topic, provide guidance on how to gain expertise in CISA, CNSS, NIST, STIG, and FedRamp: And if you don't immediately recognize these names and have a background in them this seminar is essential learning for you and your colleagues.
This seminar is also essential preparation for a new technical workshop that TCOUG leadership will announce at the Winter meeting so be sure to reserve the meeting date and attend. The announcement is going to be related to this seminar's topic and will bring a new and exciting level of professional skills training to the members of TCOUG.
12:30PM CDT Oracle Q&A open forum session by Daniel Morgan, ACE Director Alum
